Plant Discovery Set For Children - Seed kit

In order not to put their patience to the test for too long, we have decided to choose four easy to grow, uncomplicated and fast growing plant varieties which look beautiful and who are - at least in parts - edible and therefore can also be harvested. All of them can first be sown indoors in pots, but they feel most comfortable outside and will thrive best with direct sowing in spring.

This plant discovery set for children contains the following 4 plant varieties:

• Garden nasturtium, monks cress (Tropaeolum majus)
  The garden nasturtium grows as an annual plant with garland-like, trailing stems and lots of extraordinarily large, vibrant orange-yellow flowers, in our climate. Their sharp flavour is surprisingly pronounced and not unlike cress.
• Common sunflower (Helianthus annuus)
  The impressively large and cheery flower heads of sunflowers attract bees and other useful insects till autumn and they are also popular with birds that love to feed off their delicious sunflower seeds.
• Wild tomato (Solanum pimpinellifolium)
  This tomato plant is highly bountiful; on fertile soil, it can yield up to 1000 fruits. The solanum pimpinellifolium may well be the earliest form of tomato that is available today.
• Cucamelon, Mexican Sour Gherkin (Melothria scabra)
  The Mexican climbing plant forms many small cucumber-fruits that remind of watermelons on the surface.
• Peanut, groundnut, goober (Arachis hypogaea)
  Surprisingly, peanuts are easy to grow as pot plants and super healthy. They may be consumed as they are by themselves and also taste very yummy added to sauces and salads!

The seeds of each variety are packaged in a separate sachet.

This set is intended for children from about five years of age. The sowing and care of the young plants must certainly be accompanied by an adult at this age.
