Sweet Melon Delight – Even in Small Spaces
The 'Minnesota Midget' honeydew melon is a tried-and-tested variety with an exceptionally short ripening period and notably compact growth. It was bred around 1948 at the University of Minnesota specifically for shorter growing seasons – making it ideal for cultivation in northern climates.
The plants produce only short vines and are perfectly suited for growing in raised beds, on sunny patios or even in large containers. After approximately 60 days of ripening, small, round fruits with a diameter of around 10?cm develop. Their sweet, juicy flesh is a delight for melon lovers – best enjoyed straight from the rind with a spoon. Ripe fruits detach easily from the plant and give off a pleasant aroma.
